It had to happen. There had to be a way to take home a little piece of artisanal New York in a handy package. Voila, the GoodHoodGoods line of neighborhood gift buckets (brought to market with a little help from yours truly). Each GHG bucket represents a different neighborhood and includes gems from local makers like Baggu, Chocolat Moderne, and the Good Home Company.

Buckets are on sale at the Milford Hotel in Midtown and can be ordered online right here.

This vintage Navajo ring, with a stylized leaf motif around the edges, was pawned and then put on eBay. "Not the most romantic provenance," says our friend Michael Colberg. He goes on to note that he has traveled the Southwest and developed an eye for these sorts of pieces, pawned or not. In any case, it's a beaut, and, for $220 (reg. $260), it could be yours. (Would make a lovely Valentine's gift, no?) Expires Sun Jan 9.

With a 50-page drink menu and such extravagances as an ice-cream cart, oysters, escargot and charcuterie. Our advice: avoid the over-hyped burger and go for the links, bangers and saucisses version. The Beaujolaise of pork, mushrooms, onion and bacon with lentils du puy is excellent.

For the classic looks of the Mad Men era (and well before), look no further than D.L. Cerney, which peddles quality tailored pieces, some created anew in the spirit of the old, others resurrected from vintage materials.

Bye-Bye Birdbath! We found this goodbye note on their door of the bakery's 7th Ave. South outpost way to work this morning: "With the year ending, so does our lease here in the West Village." They say they're looking to stay in the W.V! Any leads?

This intimate, two-stylist salon is one of our Soho favorites: we know the proprietress Anne Minahan personally, and she gives stellar haircuts in a relaxed atmosphere. First-time customers get a half-price cut when they mention Paper&String.
