It's Gallery Week, bitches! We've got 8 great openings for you tonight (Thursday 5/5), 4 great ones tomorrow (Fri 5/6), and just 1 for the day after (Sat 5/7). Our best bets: Jeff Mermelstein's intimate backstage shots of the fashion industry, Michael Glancy's out-of-this-world metal-and-glass sculptures (pictured), and Caleb Charland's phantasmal photographs. Mother's Day is right around the corner, and this Chelsea gem has scrumptious gifts for all the lovely matriarchs in your life. Our favorite: These colorful petit fours, hand-decorated with spring patterns and the word "mom" (12 for $29.50). Other items sure to put a smile on mom's face include a mouth wateringtin of brownies (10 for $20)or a cardamom-cookie-stuffed tea basket ($65).

Take the typical NYC hot dog to a totally new level: deep-fried, slathered with toppings, and best enjoyed with a cold beer.

Bye-Bye Birdbath! We found this goodbye note on their door of the bakery's 7th Ave. South outpost way to work this morning: "With the year ending, so does our lease here in the West Village." They say they're looking to stay in the W.V! Any leads?

This vintage Navajo ring, with a stylized leaf motif around the edges, was pawned and then put on eBay. "Not the most romantic provenance," says our friend Michael Colberg. He goes on to note that he has traveled the Southwest and developed an eye for these sorts of pieces, pawned or not. In any case, it's a beaut, and, for $220 (reg. $260), it could be yours. (Would make a lovely Valentine's gift, no?) Expires Sun Jan 9.

With a 50-page drink menu and such extravagances as an ice-cream cart, oysters, escargot and charcuterie. Our advice: avoid the over-hyped burger and go for the links, bangers and saucisses version. The Beaujolaise of pork, mushrooms, onion and bacon with lentils du puy is excellent.
