Taro's Origami Studio is a magical place. Taro's offers drop-in visits and "try out corners" for those intrigued by this curious workshop, as well as classes, summer camp, and party space rentals. Kids (and adults) of all ages can scan a wall full of colored paper and learn how to fold from personal tablets installed with software that demonstrates step-by-step folding techniques. After you choose what you want to make and learn how to fold it, you can decorate your origami creation with stickers, stamps, and markers.

$10 for 30 minutes and unlimited paper.

As long as it’s October, let Oktoberfest reign! Even when it’s not October, let Oktoberfest reign. At Park Slope eatery Der Kommissar, start with crispy pretzel roll dipped in Liptauer ($5), a spicy cheese spread, or perhaps a hearty beer and onion soup ($5). For meats, we tried the mild Weisswurst ($6) and thick, fried slices of Leberkäse ($5.50), Germany’s much more delicious answer to Bologna.

We have to say, the idea of a wedding as a backdrop for a day of drama is pure genius. So we cannot wait to read A Wedding in Great Neck, by Brooklyn author Yona Zeldis McDonough, in which two families, each with their own sorrows and quirks, collide. With the release of naughty novels like Fifty Shade of Grey, sex toy sales are skyrocketing everywhere. But we're still a little, err, intimidated by some of the hardcore shops found in NYC. Which is why we LOVE Babeland, the most non-intimidating, friendly, and non-sex-toy-like sex store. Ever. Psst...check out what our Managing Editor, Jennifer Einhorn, had to say about Babeland in her article for Time Out New York!

1,700 artists will open their studio doors this weekend in Brooklyn, and here's hoping lots of art lovers come flooding in.

No matter how large your art appetite, you cannot see them all, so create your target list by neighborhood, medium or other categories with this helpful tool on the Go Brooklyn Art website. And you can use the organization's app to vote for your favorite artists; winners are featured at an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum.  Saturday & Sunday, 11a to 7p.
